Color Show Emerald City: Teal Glitter Polish Review + Reverse French-esque (??) Mani

Hello! Last weekend, while grocery shopping with my roomie, we made a stop by Target. Naturally, this meant I veered off towards the Health & Beauty section, and there I spotted Maybelline's new Color Show collection! I typically find the Color Show collection to be a hit or miss, and this time it was a hit! I instantly fell in love with Emerald City, and picked it up for $2.99. Read the review and see the mani I created with it after the jump!

Maybelline Color Show Emerald City

Emerald City consists of teal glitter suspended in a clear base, mixed with silver hexes and smattering of silver diamond glitter. In general, the glitter went on nicely but I did have to maneuver the silver pieces around. I love how it over white, but I do have to say, I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of the diamond glitter. I only managed to get one piece when applying it over ten nails for my mani....but that is a minor complaint. The first time I used this polish, I started off with thin coats, and that took a while to build up. Later on, I learned better and just used one thick coat for my mani, which did the trick.

Of course, just having glitter polish is not enough for me, I had to incorporate it into a mani. Kinda inspired by the diamond glitter in Emerald City, I ended up doing a Reverse French-esque tape mani. I don't even know if it's correct to call this a Reverse French.... is it just nail art in the end? But I don't know how else to describe it D:

To create this mani, I started off with two coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On. Once that was completely dry, I taped off a triangle area at the base of the nail and applied Color Show Emerald City. Finally, I took a striping brush and painted two lines framing the triangle with Nicole by OPI Alex by the Books. (Quick tangent - Becks and I managed to pick up Alex by the Books for only $3!! What a steal right?? It's a buy that still makes me proud xD) I adore how this mani turned out, the contrast between the clean, stark white and teal glitter is something I can't stop staring at heheh xD I've gotten tons of compliments on this, so I'm guessing other people can't stop staring at it as well! But that's probably just me being narcissistic :P

Anyways, to summarize, Emerald City is a decent glitter that is worth the $2.99 I paid for it - I will definitely be using it for accent nails and stuff in the future!
