Cherry Blossom Nail Art for Chinese New Year

Hello all! For Chinese New Year, I wanted to do some creative nails, but unfortunately there are no cute horse nails >.> So I decided to do something slightly reminiscent of Asia, and while looking around I saw a lot of cherry blossom nails! There was one blogger who had nails I absolutely adored, and I decided to put my own twist on it :D Here goes..

Cherry Blossom Nails

I started off with three coats of OPI Don't Burst My Bubble as the base color - I love this polish but hate how thin it is >.< Then I applied regular top coat to help it dry faster, and then one liberal coat of OPI Matte Top Coat. Then, using a thin striper and Sinful Colors Black on Black, I drew on some branches.  I used a pencil to sketch out where I wanted the branches to go first, which may help some of you.  The cherry blossoms were created in groups of three and five with a small dotting tool, using Color Show Paint the Town (red) and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On.  And, of course, with the classic Chinese New Year red and gold color combo, I created the centers of the flowers with Orly Glitz & Glamour.

I adore how the design came out, especially with how the cherry blossoms stand out so much against the matte background.  If I were to make some differences, in the future I might use saran wrap to dab on some white onto the pink to make it look like china, and I would be better about the random dot placement on the corners of the nails.  Or probably just nix that part altogether haha. But this is definitely the favorite of all my nails I have done as of yet! Let me know what you think :)
